Foo Fighters are set to play a gig in New Zealand, to help raise money for the victims of the recent earthquake in the country.
Foo Fighters, the American rock band fronted by Dave Grohl, will perform a show in Auckland next week to raise funds for the Chch Earthquake Relief Fund, reports NME.The decision to play the concert comes after Grohl recorded a video message for the victims of the disaster, which hit the country on 22nd February 2011. The short clip was posted on 'The Edge' website and saw the 42-year-old pledge that his band would do "what they could" in order to help raise cash and alleviate the problems faced by the victims of the earthquake. Tickets for the exclusive concert are set to go on sale tomorrow (18th March 2011). The band are set to release their hugely-anticipated seventh studio album 'Wasting Light' on 11th April 2011. The group's last record, 'Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace' was nominated for five Grammy Awards in 2008, with the band winning the awards for 'Best Rock Album' and 'Best Hard Rock Performance'.
Foo Fighters played a 'secret' show at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, this week. The band rocked through an impromptu 21-song gig at Stubb's Bbq and amphitheatre.
