Harrison Ford surprised crowds at the Comic-Con convention on Saturday (24Jul10) by appearing in handcuffs - shortly after a man was arrested for allegedly stabbing another fan at the San Diego, California event.
The handcuffed actor was led onstage by two security guards and given a standing ovation from the 6,000-strong audience at the sci-fi and comic book gathering.
The Star Wars legend, who was promoting his upcoming movie Cowboys & Aliens, seemed surprised by the warm welcome, telling fans, "I just wanted to make a living as an actor. I didn't know about this."
Ford's stunt is believed to have been in reference to an earlier incident in which two men fought while waiting for the Cowboys & Aliens panel discussion.
The victim was taken to hospital with a minor cut around his eyelid while the other was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, reports the Associated Press. The fight caused a 45-minute delay.
