Rod Stewart forgets the names of his children.

The 66-year-old singer - who became a father for the eighth time in February when wife Penny Lancaster gave birth to Aiden, their second son together - admits he can't always instantly recall what his kids are called, while one of the younger members of his brood, five-year-old Alistair, struggles to accept that his dad is the same man he sees perform on stage.

Rod said: "I'm very proud of my kids. The funny thing is with the little one - so many of them I can't remember their names now - um, Alistair. When I'm around Als I'm 'dad' but when I'm on tour, if I'm away for a couple of nights, he calls me Rod Stewart."

Rod likes to be a hands-on father to his children - but admits he has to leave Penny to undertake feeding and changing Aiden through the night as he doesn't have the energy.

He told Australia's '60 Minutes' show: "As long as it's during the day I'm OK, I can't seem to do the night things anymore."

The 'Maggie May' hitmaker has been married three times and dated a string of beauties including Alana Hamilton and Britt Ekland, but insists he has no idea why he has been such a hit with women.

Asked for the secret to his love life success, he said: "I'm embarrassed, I don't know, I mean I'm not a standardly good-looking bloke, I don't know what it is. I mean, I'm not Brad Pitt am I?

"I used to do alright even before I was in the music business, you know, probably a good chat-up line and I think I can be fairly charming and well-mannered when I want to."
