Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Bob Weston has died, aged 64.
The musician/songwriter, who played with the band for two years in the 1970s until his affair with frontman Mick Fleetwood's wife was exposed, passed away at his home in Brent Cross, north London.
Weston, who lived alone, was discovered dead in bed after friends raised the alarm and cops broke into his apartment.
The musician's brother Peter tells Britain's Daily Express, "He was a lovely, gentle bloke. It’s a shock. He’d everything to live for."
He was due to start work on a new album with former Rolling Stones rocker Mick Taylor on Thursday (05Jan12).
Weston joined Fleetwood Mac as a replacement for troubled young guitarist Danny Kirwan in 1972, going on to record their hit albums Penguin and Mystery to Me.
However, the guitarist left the band in late 1973 after singer Fleetwood discovered Weston had been having an affair with his wife, Jenny Boyd.
The band attempted to continue with the line-up after the affair was revealed, but Fleetwood then fired him and cancelled the group's tour dates for the remainder of 1974.
Weston went on to record his own solo albums.
His death is not being treated as suspicious.
