Freddie Starr , the 68-year-old British comedian, has been taken out of the 'I'm A Celebrity' camp and into hospital after falling ill following a 'Bushtucker Trial'. Starr took on 'The Only Way is Essex' star Mark Wright in the task, where they were asked to eat various unsavoury bugs and critters.
Freddie and Mark were selected by the British public to participate in the 'Greasy Spoon Cafe' trial, with a five course meal of 'typical jungle fayre' being served up. Mark refused to eat the first course, a fermented egg, although Freddie devoured it to take a one-nil lead. The pair both tucked into cheese fruit, meal worms and mice tails, before chowing down on the anus of a pig, with Freddie telling his opponent, "there is nothing better than the anus of a bush pig". As Mark had passed on one of the dishes, it was down to the comedian to chomp on course five, turkey testicles in slime sauce, to win the prize for his camp. His duly did so, but soon after began feeling unwell. According to the London Evening Standard, Starr is currently undergoing tests in hospital but is said to be in "good spirits". The 68-year-old had already arrived late into camp after a paperwork problem concerning a heart attack. A spokesman for the Itv1 show said, "He was immediately attended to by onsite medics and taken to hospital where he was assessed by doctors. He will remain in hospital overnight as a precaution and further tests continue".
The comedian had already struggled with an earlier task, in which he had to pull a key out of a bowl of mealworms with his teeth. Instead, he began to continuously dunk his head into the tub of creatures, much to the dismay of his teammates.
