The punk star who won her freedom after members of Russian band Pussy Riot were jailed on hooliganism charges last summer (12) insists the group will continue when her two bandmates are released from prison.

Katya Samutsevich appeared via video calling service Skype during a question and answer session at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah at the weekend (19-20Jan13) following the screening of Maxim Pozdorovkin and Mike Lerner's documentary Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer, and told fans and followers the punk activists would not be splitting up.

Telling audience members that she visited her incarcerated bandmates the day after she was released, the rocker said, "We are probably not going to change our general approach, and just approach an action exactly as we do."

But she accepts the band's future gigs will be scrutinised more than ever following the trio's arrest during a protest gig at a Moscow church.

She added, "I don't fear any significant backlash from the religious community... but in terms of the government response, I think that we're probably on several blacklists and extremism lists, and it may be that in the future when we continue to do performances, they will try to press criminal charges for smaller things, smaller actions."
