French Producer De Goldschmidt Dies
Veteran French producer Gilbert de Goldschmidt has died, aged 85.
De Goldschmidt passed away on 1 January (10) in in Switzerland. No cause of death had been released as WENN went to press.
He began producing films for the U.S. military and created Madeleine Films in 1951.
He also helped to develop successful productions including Jean-Gabriel's The Wanderer and the Oscar-nominated Hoa Binh, comedies including Alexander, The Troubles with Alexander and The Tall Blond Man, and several French TV commercials.
De Goldschmidt twice headed Unifrance film, which promotes French film around the world, and served on the Cannes jury in 1983 and on the Venice jury in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, France, two children and four grandchildren
