Gabby Douglas - Gabby Douglas' Whirlwind Media Tour Leads To Vma Awards Appearance
What do Olympic medallists do once the Games are over? Go on holiday? Put their feet up and relax? Go partying? Get back onto their training schedule? Well, in the case of gold medal-winning gymnast Gabby Douglas, she's currently engulfed in a whirlwind media tour that will see her make an appearance at tonight's 2012 Mtv Video Music Awards (September 6, 2012). All those year's spent training week in, week out, focused on the Olympic Games - Gabby probably didn't think that she'd be rubbing shoulders with Rihanna, Taylor Swift and One Direction as a result of her sporting success.
Douglas has already had an impressively busy week; VH1 reveal that she joined Kyla Ross and MCKayla Maroney in Los Angeles on Tuesday (September 4, 2012), at a pre-VmAs press conference, where Gabby was given the honor of announcing Lil' Wayne's appearance at the televised awards show. Then, she hopped on a plane and flew to Charlotte, North Carolina, where she helped Jordyn Wieber and Aly Raisman to promote the Kids' Health Goes Gold initiative. In the evening, Gabby then led the pledge of allegiance at the Democratic National Convention in the evening. Not exactly the average day of a sixteen year-old girl. In fact, even by Olympic gold medallists' standards, that's a pretty impressive itinerary right there.
According to People magazine, Gabby is also due to release her memoirs, entitled Grace Gold and Glory, My Leap of Faith. It tells the tale of how she left her family in Virginia at the age of 12 so that could train 3,000 miles away, in pursuit of Olympics glory.
