Lady GaGa unveiled her long-awaited new single BORN THIS WAY on Friday (11Feb11) - and immediately faced a barrage of accusations she has ripped off Madonna's classic hit EXPRESS YOURSELF.
The Poker Face hitmaker has been trumpeting her new track for weeks, and led a countdown to its release on her Twitter.com blog.
She finally uploaded the song on Friday - but within minutes a slew of critics and thousands of fans took to the internet to accuse her of stealing the beat, melody and subject matter from Madonna's 1989 global smash hit.
One follower writes, "Lady Gaga's song's good, but my God it sounds exactly like Madonna's Express Yourself", while another adds, "It doesn't just sound like Madonna's Express Yourself. You can literally sing the original over this one."
And even celebrity blogger Perez Hilton - a huge Gaga fan - noticed the similarities between the two songs, tweeting: "Express Yourself 2.0 is what people are saying? I'll happily take that!!!"
