Judy Garland - Garland's Wizard Of Oz Dress To Join Ruby Slippers At Auction
The iconic blue and white gingham pinafore dress Judy Garland wore in The Wizard of Oz is to be auctioned off in California next month (Dec11) alongside the actress' ruby slippers.
Both items will go under the hammer at a three-day Profiles in History sale, beginning 15 December (11).
The dress, considered "one of the most instantly recognisable costumes in the history of cinema" is expected to fetch up to $300,000 (£187,500).
As previously announced, the slippers are expected to sell for upwards of $2 million (£1.25 million).
The Judy Garland Museum is also participating in the auction by selling a number of items to help fund the Children's Discovery Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Proceeds will benefit low income children in rural Minnesota.
Items from The Judy Garland Museum going under the hammer include the actress' 1952 Tony Award for Unique Contribution to Theater, her personal scrapbook of photographs and newspaper clippings from 1958 to 1959 and her original high school diploma.
