Country star Garth Brooks has won his lawsuit against Oklahoma hospital officials he accused of misusing a $500,000 (£312,500) donation.
The singer sent the cheque to the Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in Yukon in 2005 and claims the generous gift was handed over on the condition that the money would be used to build a new wing for women and named after his late mum, Colleen.
He alleged that although he was shown architectural plans for the centre, the project was never completed.
Brooks fought back tears as he testified in a Claremore court on Friday (20Jan12) about his deal with hospital president James Moore.
Hospital officials argued the donation was "anonymous and unconditional" and they had done nothing wrong, but jurors agreed with Brooks on Tuesday (24Jan12) and a judge ordered hospital bosses to hand back the money, as well as pay damages.
