British pop star Gary Barlow has signed up to compose the score for a revamped stage version of Johnny Depp's Hollywood movie Finding Neverland.

Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein has enlisted the Take That singer to write new songs for a musical based on the 2004 film, which starred Depp as Peter Pan playwright J. M. Barrie.

A 2012 theatre adaptation of Finding Neverland was met with lacklustre reviews, but Weinstein is convinced Barlow can turn the show around and reveals he has already come up with five songs, which will join existing numbers by composer Scott Frankel and lyricist Michael Korie.

He tells Britain's Daily Mail, "We love what Gary's written. There's one number he's written for Act Two that's hummable right away - it's really melodic... We've got a great team."

Weinstein is hoping the Finding Neverland musical will be ready to open in London's West End theatre district next spring (14).
