George Harrison - George Harrison's Widow Abandons Security Fence Plans

George Harrison's widow has abandoned plans to erect a razor-wire fence around her home following fierce opposition from neighbours.

Olivia Harrison applied to her local council for permission to place a seven-foot (two-metre) high structure around her lavish mansion in Henley-on-Thames, England, in a bid to keep herself safe from trespassers.

She claimed to be living in fear of a repeat of a terrifying incident in 1999 when her Beatles star husband was stabbed by an intruder at the house.

However, Harrison's plans caused anger among many local residents, with one neighbour even claiming his cat had suffered near-fatal injuries on razor wire attached to the existing fence, and local authorities lodged an official objection

Marin Akehurst, planning committee vice-chairman for Henley Town Council, wrote a letter to the area's district council claiming the security threat had been "exaggerated" and the planned razor wire fence would be dangerous to wildlife.

Harrison subsequently amended her plan to include wooden fences and the application was approved, according to Britain's Daily Telegraph.
