George Michael is thankfully on the mend following a bout of pneumonia which felled the pop star last week, forcing him to cancel the rest of his current tour. Michael had been touring Europe when falling ill and is being treated in a hospital in Vienna following, what his doctors said was the "severity and extension" of the case.
Releasing a statement to the Press Association, Professors Locker and Zielinski said "The latest development in Mr Michael's case, which has evolved from a severe pneumococcal infection, necessitated intensive care due to its severity and extension. We are happy to announce that Mr Michael is improving steadily with an impressive regression of pneumonic symptoms and follows a steady rate of improvement as hoped." The pair went on to add "There are no other health issues with regards to the patient other than the underlying pneumonic disorder, and no further measures had to be taken."
Normally a prolific Tweeter, the illness has kept Michael away from his account, the last message he left written whilst in Munich on November 17th where he asked "How am I doing so far?" On the star's official website meanwhile a string of news updates announced cancelled dates in dribs and drabs before eventually that the entire 'Symphonica' tour was to be scrapped. It's hoped that the dates will be re-scheduled at some point in the new year.
