Gisele Bundchen has angered fans of the Patriots by dissing her husband's teammates, following their loss against the New York Giants at the Super Bowl on Sunday night (February 5, 2012). Whilst leaving the stadium, the supermodel was heard talking to a friend, according to Tmz and saying "My husband can not f****ing throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can't believe they dropped the ball so many times."
Bundchen made the remark after fans outside the stadium heckled her, with one of them shouting "Eli owns your husband." Although she didn't direct the comment at the heckler, her remarks were recorded on tape and have angered her husband Tom Brady's team mates. The unwritten code of the Patriots is that you "win as a team, lose as a team" and Tmz's sources suggest that the Patriots players feel she has violated the code with her remarks. She had already been overheard telling Tom that he played the best game of his life, after the match had ended.
Public response to the comments has been mixed, with some people supporting her decision to stick up for her husband but others have stated that she should have kept her opinions to herself. On Twitter, DrJayJack posted a message reading "I appreciate the candor of Gisele Bundchen, but ladies... do not put your foot in your mouth at the expense of your man." And a Boston-based Twitter user, AlexaPrenovitz stated "just heard Gisele referred to as 'Yoko Bundchen' and I must say I agree. Win as a team, lose as a team. Wives included."
