Glastonbury Starts With Charity Campaign
Glastonbury Festival boss Michael Eavis kicked off this year's extravaganza with a campaign to convince revellers to help save the earth.
Eavis unveiled the I Count campaign, in conjunction with charities Greenpeace, Oxfam and WaterAid at the festival in south west England on Thursday (21Jun07). It hopes to convince 100,000 of the 177,000 festival-goers to agree to make changes to their everyday lives to reduce their impact on the environment.
Eavis has kickstarted the campaign by revealing he has spent $400,000 (GBP200,000) on a solar energy system for the festival's Worthy Farm site.
