The stars of comedy-drama Glee delivered a series of touching tributes to the late Whitney Houston on Tuesday night's episode (April 24, 2012). The singer's biggest hits were on show, including a surprise rendition of her more recent song 'It's Not Right But It's Ok', reports E! Online.
As is the norm on Glee, the characters used the songs to convey their feelings, but the theme of acceptance and moving on (graduation) seemed more apt given the tragic death of Houston in February. 'Saving All My Love For You', turned into a nightmare for Quinn (Dianna Agron), who feared she would be "saving that love forever", because it could never be returned. Nevertheless, the episode was still a celebration of Houston's career, and Rachel and Santana did an impressive 'bump-and-grind' routine to 'So Emotional'. There was some love in the air too, with Brittany and Santana tackling 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody', complete with lyric change to hint at romance. Before the episode had aired, Lea Michele had tweeted to fans, "So excited for tonight's episode though! Our tribute to the amazing Whitney", while Dianna Agron later told her 1 million followers, "Was fun to film & great to sing that song. Such a privilege".
It's the second notable television tribute to Whitney Houston this year, following American Idol's Whitney themed live show. The singer was found dead in her Beverly Hilton hotel room on February 11, 2012.
