Glitter Hopes For Early Release
Paedophile pop star Gary Glitter hopes to be pardoned by the Vietnamese government and released from prison next week (begs03Sep07).
The 70s star - real name Paul Gadd - was convicted of committing obscene acts with two girls aged 11 and 12 and jailed in March 2006.
He isn't due for release until next year (08), but his legal team hope he'll be included in a government amnesty that occurs each year on independence day (02Sep07).
Gadd's lawyer Le Than Kinh says, "I am hopeful. I believe punishment has now been sufficient. My client now wishes to return home (to Britain)."
The singer, 62, will be added to the sex offenders register when he returns to the U.K - where he was jailed for four months in 1999 after child porn was found on his computer.
