Goodman And Cusack For Parental Roles In Isla Fisher Filmby Contributor | 05 March 2008
John Goodman and Joan Cusack have been added to the cast of upcoming comedy Confessions of a Shopaholic.
Starring Isla Fisher, the Touchstone Pictures release is an adaptation of Sophie Kinsella's bestselling novel of the same name.
The diminutive Australian actress will take the lead role of magazine journalist Becky Bloomwood, who goes to increasingly outlandish lengths to manage her growing credit card debt while trying to make her way in the world of New York publishing.
And according to Variety, Goodman and Cusack have now been confirmed to play Fisher's parents in the comedy.
Also set to shoot in New York and Connecticut is British actor Hugh Dancy, who has been contracted to play Becky's editor.
Krysten Ritter (27 Dresses, Gilmore Girls) will play her best friend in the PJ Hogan picture, set for a Valentine's Day 2009 release in the US.
In a recent interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Fisher described her part in Confessions of a Shopaholic as "so much fun".
"I basically get to play a girl that loves to shop so, yeah, it's not exactly hard work," she added.
Engaged to Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen, 31-year-old Fisher gave birth to her first child, Olive, in October last year.
The former Home and Away star can currently be seen in romantic comedy Definitely, Maybe and provides voice work for upcoming Dr Seuss adaptation Horton Hears a Who!, released on March 14th.
