The hotly anticipated game just got even more hot
This isn’t just a gameplay video, this is a Grand Theft Auto V gameplay video, and this isn’t just a Grand Theft Auto V gameplay video, this is an absolutely huge Grand Theft Auto V gameplay video with a smooth vocal description punctuating the impressive footage.
One of the biggest games (if not the biggest of this generation), Grand Theft Auto V represents the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3’s final swansong before hungry gamers get their mitts on Xbox ONE’s and PS4’s. Up until now, we’ve had theatrical trailers giving us an insight into all three characters – the fist time a GTA game has done this - and pretty pictures to keep us tantalized. Now, we have a fully-fledged gameplay video, showing us what it actually looks like to play it.
Check it out below or here: (over 18s only, please)
As expected, the game world is bigger and better, but as the assertive, robot-sounding woman in the video states, Rockstar have attempted to reimagine the open-world game. What does this mean? Well mini-games for one, and this time they actually look good - the golf, tennis, plane flying all look great. In terms of scope, it’s clear that vast expanses of untouched nature, decaying cities and modern boulevards are all part and parcel of the latest GTA, meaning exploring this “sprawling, satirical, reimaging of southern California” should be an absolute treat.
Elsewhere in the trailer, and it appears as though all three characters fit together seamlessly, but it’s not clear if we can play as whichever one, whenever we want. You can expect more information on that in the coming weeks as we approach the game’s November release date. Perhaps the biggest aspect of this gameplay video is the updated mechanics –shooting, running and flying all look better than they did in GTA IV, which has its flaws despite being a critically acclaimed title.
Get to know Michael, Franklin and Trevor - GTA's three playable characters (again, over 18s)
The customisation will also appeal to gamers, with, as far as we can see, ample choices of clothing and car add ons to select/buy with the cash you undoubtedly acquired via questionable means. But what would a GTA game be without questionable means? All in all, this latest video will ramp up the pre-orders for Rockstar, who are enjoying slowly dripping information to their adoring fans. The New York-based company are responsible for one of the biggest gaming franchises in the world, pretty much reinventing the sandbox genre. And with GTA V on the way, their reputation looks to be skyrocketing as we welcome a new dawn of consoles.
