Steve Vai - Guitarist Steve Vai Sets New World Record
Guitar great Steve Vai has earned himself a place in the record books after conducting the largest online music lesson in history.
The rocker teamed up with the online department of his alma mater, Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts, to attempt the stunt on 3 March (11).
Guinness Book of World Records officials certified the feat after almost 7,000 students tuned in to watch the Grammy Award-winning star's 30-minute live feed.
Vai tells RockAaa.com, "I hope this record encourages players to continue to cultivate their own unique style and spirit on the guitar. I think this record really showcases the interest that exists in guitar education worldwide. It was a true pleasure working with an institution like Berkleemusic.com, who (sic) shares my interest in helping to bring more skilled musicians into the world."
This marks the second world record for Vai. He landed his first world record for having the biggest light show in rock history while touring with guitarist David Lee Roth in the 1980s.
