Brokeback Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal has signed up to follow in Neil Armstrong's footsteps by joining the cast of Dreamworks' 'Untitled Moon Project'.

Gyllenhaal will go lunar with director Iman">Doug Liman in the upcoming movie, (the title of which should change, presumably), telling the story of a 'private' expedition to the moon according to Variety.

The trade newspaper reports that a script originally penned by Liman and Meet the Parents scribe John Hamburg will be revamped by Mark Bowden, screenwriter of Black Hawk Down.

Simon Kinberg and Liman will produce, alongside Ali Shearmur, former Universal executive and Paramount co-president of production, who has worked alongside Liman on The Bourne Identity and Gyllenhaal on his recent crime thriller Zodiac.

The Donnie Darko actor is first set to star in Brothers alongside Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman.

Jim Sheridan's movie - with a script from 25th Hour writer David Benioff - is a remake of Susanne Bier's 2004 film, telling the tale of a family dynamic changed when one brother is sent to Afghanistan.
