Film composer Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams have turned their Oscars night collaboration into a new classical album, featuring jazz singer Esperanza Spalding, Giorgio Moroder and Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman.
Zimmer brought together a group of maestros to help him create the music for the 2012 Academy Awards and now he is planning to release their collective efforts under the name The All-Star Academy Awards Band.
The release features music centred around Zimmer's theme for this year's 84th Oscars telecast and is currently available for download via iTunes.
The 84th Academy Awards - Celebrate the Music includes the show's musical theme plus six interpretations of the theme by other artists, and the In Memoriam choral rendition of What a Wonderful World led by Spalding.
The band also features famed percussionist Sheila E, guitarist/composer Stephane Wrembel, violin/cello virtuosi Ann Marie Calhoun and Martin Tillman, Dutch remixer Junkie XL and and multiple Grammy-winning British musician/producer Peter Asher.
