Harry Potter Fans' Chance For Stardomby Contributor | 22 June 2007
Harry Potter fans aged between 15 and 18 have the chance of starring in the sixth film in the franchise next month.
The film's producers will be holding open casting sessions for two key roles in the sixth movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, on July 1st and 8th.
First the part of Lavender Brown will be up for grabs. Anyone who doesn't like the look of actor Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley in the films, had better steer clear of this one because she is his possessive and hysterical love interest.
"She reacts in an extreme way to everything. She tends to be either laughing or crying hysterically," the producers say.
Then comes casting for Tom Riddle, the "very charismatic" but slightly sinister Voldemort-to-be. He is popular and a leader but "both staff and children are probably all a little scared of him".
Both casting sessions will take place at Earl's Court in London, with applications opening from 10:00 BST. Fortunately for those without previous appearances in enormously successful movies, no experience is required.
One big fan of this casting technique is Evanna Lynch. She was chosen to play dippy eccentric Luna Lovegood in the fifth film, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, after being picked out as the best applicant from a similar process last time around.
Those wishing to be inspired by Lynch's performance can do so in UK cinemas from July 13th.
