Heather Locklear was allegedly taking Xanax before being rushed to hospital.
The 50-year-old actress was taken to the Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center from her home in Westlake Village, Los Angeles, yesterday afternoon (12.01.12) after her sister Colleen called 911 because she had mixed alcohol with medication.
A source close to the star has now revealed she was taking Xanax, a drug used to treat anxiety and panic disorder.
The source said: "Colleen was worried about Heather's state of mind and they were afraid she was going to harm herself ... because of her drinking mixed with medication."
While Heather's condition remains as "medically stable", it is thought part of her problems have stemmed from her break-up from fiance Jack Wagner in 2011.
The source said: "She is distraught over her relationship with Jack, it is on and off and it has upset her lately. Her sister called 911 because she was worried about Heather."
Heather - who is being looked after by her parents - is set to leave hospital over the weekend.
The blonde beauty has had a turbulent few years.
In 2011, she was arrested, and later cleared, for a hit-and-run accident after hitting a No Parking sign in Ventura County, California.
In 2008, she entered rehab seeking treatment for anxiety and depression.
