Hilary Swank sees her divorce as "a success".

The 'Million Dollar Baby' star - who divorced actor Chad Lowe in 2006 after nine years of marriage - admitted despite the breakdown of her first union, she still believes in monogamous relationships.

She explained: "A lot of people look at divorce as a failure. I really look at my relationship with Chad as 14 years of success. I will carry him in my heart forever. He's a part of me. Friends of mine and I talk about this. Does someone come into your life for a certain time, and then you are supposed to go your separate ways? There's a part of me that thinks that's true.

"There are friendships that we grow out of. But I believe in the long haul. I believe in having a monogamous relationship."

The Oscar-winning actress - who started dating her agent John Campisi following her 2006 divorce - also admitted she is in no hurry to tie the knot again.

Hilary added to America's InStyle magazine: "I believe in the sanctity of marriage. John and I, you know, we were both in long marriages and it's not something that we need to rush back into."

The 36-year-old beauty also admitted that despite having wanted children from "a really young age", the couple are not planning on settling down and having children until "the time is right".
