Hoda Kotb - Hoda Kotb Flies To London To Help Save Today's Olympic Coverage
Hoda Kotb has been flown to London by NBC to help rejuvenate Today's coverage of the Olympics, as the show continues to suffer from faltering viewing figures.
This is bad news for Savannah Guthrie, who replaced Ann Curry as the show's co-presenter only a few weeks ago, a move that proved unwelcome when it was announced and even more so now as she fails to impress audiences with the show's Olympic coverage.
A network insider at Nbc revealed to New York Daily News that Kotb, who co-hosts the fourth hour of Today with Kathie Lee Gifford, was called in to help out with presenting on Thursday after the show's pre-Olympics broadcast failed to match the ratings of the rival ABC morning show Good Morning America.
The source went on to explain that network executives practically "begged" Hoda to fly over, adding "they're just shoehorning her into the show to help bring it alive."
She had initially planned to use the time to take a two-week vacation until the show resumes it's usual schedule, but instead heeded the producer's pleas and went over to join the Today crew for the rest of the coverage.
Whilst it may be bad news for Guthrie, the move will no doubt only aid Hoda's own career and it's likely that Ann Curry wasn't particularly moved by Guthrie's failings either.
