Blink-182 rocker Mark Hoppus is auctioning off items from his personal memorabilia collection to raise much-needed cash for the Japanese disaster relief fund.
The singer has raided his own box of Blink-182 souvenirs and is selling off backstage passes, an orange sweater he wore in the band's video for Dammit, and the sign placed on their dressing room door when they played the MTV Video Music Awards in New York in 2000.
But the most coveted lot is one featuring four original sheets of handwritten lyrics to Rock Show - with bids for that item sailing past the $18,000 (£12,000) mark by Monday afternoon (14Mar11).
Describing the post, Hoppus writes: "Original lyric sheets for The Rock Show, from the day I wrote the song, about ten years ago. These are the real deal. Original lyrics, not even all the way written, some different from the final version. Four pieces of small, crappy notebook paper, with handwritten lyrics. I sat down with an acoustic guitar and wrote this song near the end of the writing sessions for 'Take Off Your Pants and Jacket'. The song went on to be the first single on a number one album. Pretty, pretty, pretty cool. This is for sale for a good cause: to benefit the American Red Cross in its efforts to help the disaster relief in Japan. Please let these go to a good home..."
Hoppus has even agreed to autograph the items for the winning bidders.
The auctions will remain active throughout this week (begs14Mar11), with the final lots closing on 21 March (11).
More than 2,800 people were killed in Friday's (11Mar11) epic earthquake and tsunami, with tens of thousands more feared dead.
