Hot Chip's Alexis Taylor said he was ''proud'' of the band's last album despite criticism from some that it was too disparate.
Hot Chip are "proud" of their last album 'Made In The Dark'.
The 'Ready for the Floor' hitmakers, who are gearing up to release their fourth LP, said that their last album was supposed to be different to what people expected.
Lead singer Alexis Taylor said: "I really like the last record we made - really proud of it.
"It was meant to be a double album and sprawling and full of different ideas from one song to the next.
"Maybe people wanted something easier to consume. I don't think it's fruitful to try and spoon feed people something they find easier to consume.
"That can lead to very bland music, which obviously there is a lot of in British pop music. We're not tailoring for any reason like that."
Alexis added that the next album 'One Life Stand' has a "homely" sound.
He revealed to Newsbeat: "It's the most warm and soulful sounding record we've made. It's quite a homely-sounding record."
