Howard Stern is reportedly in advanced negations to join 'America's Got Talent'.

The outspoken DJ is in talks with NBC to take over from Piers Morgan on the judging panel but the shock jock wants $20 million and is pushing for the talent show to be filmed in New York instead of CBS Television City in Los Angeles.

Stern is keen for the live episodes to move to the 'Big Apple' because it is where he broadcasts his radio show for Sirius XM from.

A series source told the New York Post newspaper: "Cowell really wants Stern on the judging panel. The talk on the production is that it's practically a done deal. But Stern is asking for a huge fee, and he can't travel because of his radio show. He wants the show to move to New York."

'America's Got Talent' boss Simon Cowell is said to be desperate to secure the services of Howard and could be willing to make concessions for the 57-year-old star.

However, if the show - which is also judged by Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel - does move to New York it could mean many crew members losing their jobs if they aren't prepared to relocate.

A source said: "Moving it to New York would mean over 100 people losing their jobs if they don't move with the show ... Another idea could be for the show to stay in LA and Howard to be a part-time judge."

Earlier this month, Piers announced he was quitting as a judge after six years to concentrate on his current affairs programme 'Piers Morgan Tonight'.

In an announcement on his CNN show, he said: "I can exclusively reveal that I'm leaving 'America's Got Talent'. I've been a judge since the show began six years ago, I've loved every single second, but I've discovered that juggling, to my surprise, really is a bit more difficult than I thought. So I'm going to focus on what will be a huge year here at CNN, with the upcoming election."
