Howard Stern has hinted he was reprimanded for a recent comment about NBC late-night show host Jay Leno. Stern - who now works for the network on 'America's Got Talent' - claimed on his radio show that an Nbc executive made a "threatening kind of comment" after he called Leno a "spineless maggot", reports the Chicago Tribune.
Stern slammed Leno last Monday, following reports that the talk show host had taken a pay-cut to save jobs on his programme. The next day he said, "I got sort of a threatening kind of comment from one of the executives.I was done with Jay Leno, now I'm all fired up again". The shock-jock doubted that Leno was trying to save staff members' jobs, suggesting that he had indeed wanted the cuts and was hiding behind the network, venting, "It's a smokescreen... Here's what it really means, and you can take this to the bank: Jay Leno is a scumbag. That's what that means. He's a spineless maggot. Jay wanted to cut staff. He's embarrassed to do it. He didn't want to come off as a bad guy". Stern has had harsh words for Leno in the past, and declined the go into detail about the alleged threat. Should he be ousted from 'America's Got Talent' - Stern probably wouldn't put up much of a fight, saying, "Take my job away from me - who cares? I will never, ever, ever endorse Jay".
Howard Stern raised more than a few eyebrows when he signed up with Nbc for the family friendly talent contest, and - ever the maverick - finished his diatribe by adding, "I don't answer to anybody, everyone knows that. That's part of the game. And that's why I'm a great judge - I would tell people if they sucked".
