Kate Hudson struggled through Kurt Russell's new film POSEIDON because she couldn't stomach watching scenes in which her 'Pa' appeared to be drowning. The actress reluctantly agreed to join her mother's longtime partner at the premiere of the disaster film because she was "a mess" when she watched his character in firefighter drama BACKDRAFT risk death on the big screen - and she didn't want to watch him die. She says, "I had a really hard time watching the drowning scene. That said, that's one of the best drowning scenes I've ever seen. I was shocked. "I enjoyed the movie. It's never easy to watch your dad die on film. I remember when I saw Backdraft for the first time; I was just a mess and then I had dreams after that forever. "It brings you way too close to the mortality of your parents. But Pa doesn't come home and say, 'Guess what guys, I almost drowned today.' I mean that's how Kurt is. He doesn't tell us that stuff."
