Hundreds of fans took to the streets of New York City on Friday (30Nov12) to pay their last respects to late boxer Hector 'macho' Camacho.

The 50-year-old sportsman lost his fight for life last Saturday (24Nov12), four days after he was gunned down outside a bar in his native Puerto Rico.

He was remembered at a private memorial in Puerto Rico on Monday (26Nov12) and his body was then flown to New York for a second service on Friday.

Camacho's coffin was driven through the streets of Manhattan's East Harlem district on a horse-drawn carriage and thousands of fans lined the route to say their goodbyes as the funeral cortege passed by on its way to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church.

Camacho's son Christian said of the service, "The scene inside was peaceful. Everybody is here supporting. He come (sic) out of Spanish Harlem and make something out of himself. All his people are here supporting him, showing that they love him."

The boxer was scheduled to be buried on Saturday (01Dec12) at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx.
