Hunger Games Premiere: Jennifer Lawrence Dazzles In Gold Gown
The stars of the highly anticipated movie The Hunger Games have hit the red carpet at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles for the film's premiere. The Hunger Games has already broken the advance cinema ticket sales record set by Twilight, suggesting that it will be in for an impressive opening weekend. The movie's young actors and actresses have fast been placed at the centre of media attention surrounding the film, despite the presence of Hollywood stalwarts such as Woody Harrelson and Donald Sutherland in the cast.
Josh Hutcherson spoke to Access Hollywood on the red carpet, explaining that he was overwhelmed when he arrived at the Nokia Theater, which has a 5,000 capacity. When he got out of the car, he explained, the fans were screaming for Peeta (his character's name) to come over "but I'm only Josh, I did what I could. I'm still me." He praised his co-star Jennifer Lawrence for her stunning gold outfit saying "she got the heart going, for sure. 100 per cent." He also had praise for the author of The Hunger Games novel, Suzanne Collins, saying that it's "so well written, the characters are so dynamic and interesting."
Liam Hemsworth, the young Australian actor told ITN reporters that "strong characters" are "a very big part" of the success of The Hunger Games. The premiere attracted celebrities such as Sylvester Stallone and, of course, Hemsworth's girlfriend, the pop singer Miley Cyrus. The UK premiere of the movie will take place in London tomorrow (March 14, 2012)
