Hunger Games Swallows Up Another $61.1 Mil

Lionsgate's Hunger Games dominated the domestic box office for the second consecutive weekend, adding another $61.1 million to its gross, which now stands at $251.03 million after just ten days. According to studio estimates, it nabbed an additional $95.5 million overseas, bringing its worldwide tally to $364.9 million. Warner Bros.' Wrath of the Titans debuted in second place with an estimated $34.2 million domestically, slightly less than the lower end of forecasts; however, it grabbed $78 million overseas to open with a solid $112.2 million. The previous Titans flick, 2010's Clash of the Titans , also displayed greater box-office strength abroad than it did in North America. (See separate item.) Relativity Media's Mirror Mirror opened in third place with a mediocre $19 million. Sony's 21 Jump Street was still jumping at the box office, dropping only 26.7 percent in its third week to around $15 million, while Dr. Seuss' The Lorax rounded out the top five with $8 million.

Mirror Mirror , $19 million; 4. 21 Jump Street, $15 million; 5. Dr. Seuss' The Lorax , $8 million; 6. John Carter , $2 million; 7. Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, $1.3 million; 8. Act of Valor, $1 million; 9. A Thousand Words, $915,000; 10. Journey 2 The Mysterious Island, $835,000.
