Iain Banks - Iain Banks Left $5.7 Million To His Wife
Scottish author Iain Banks left his widow $5.7 million (£3.6 million) in his will.
The Wasp Factory writer lost his battle with gall bladder cancer aged 59 in June last year (13), and it has now emerged that his estate, including his Scottish home, royalties, cash and archive of manuscripts, was worth $5.7 million at the time of his death.
He left gifts to friends totalling $22,400 (£14,000) before instructing that his estate and future royalties from his novels should go to his wife, Adele Hartley, who he married three months before his death (Mar13).
Banks' last novel, The Quarry, was released two weeks after he died.
