Ice-T has been building up the hype ahead of his documentary on hip-hop's biggest players by talking about Kanye West, a man notoriously hard to get a hold for interviews these days. MTV reports that T's new documentary 'Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap' features interviews with dozens of the rapping world's biggest stars, from Eminem to Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and many in-between.
You'd have thought that, even with Ice-T's credentials, Ye would be a hard man to track down - he's busy enough for one. Far from it though, apparently. "I just made a few calls, you know what I'm sayin'? I got connections that got connections to his people," the rapper turned film maker said recently. Ice T was full of praise for West, commenting "We respect each other and I know he's a spitter. I know he can really rhyme, so we made the call and he was like, 'No problem.' "
T was a busy man getting the footage together, not because it was hard to get hold of - more because he had so much of it! Whittling it down was an issue. "We shot 52 rappers. We had a six-hour edit on this film," he said. "I had to figure out how to cut this down to two hours, so there is so much extra material. There's a director's cut that's just incredible."
