Idris Elba has a foot fetish.

The 40-year-old actor finds the body part particularly sexy and he decided to include his unusual erotic obsession in his script for TV drama 'Pavement Psychologist' - which he wrote and directed - leading its lead actress Anna Friel to quest why his story concentrated on feet.

In an interview with the new UK issue of GQ magazine, he explained: ''Anna's so funny. She said, 'It's a good script, but why feet?' I had to be honest with her. There came a moment right there where the actor was looking at me and saying, 'Why did you write this story?' And I had to say, 'Well, I've got a f***ing fetish for feet.' I spilled the beans, told the truth about it.

''I know how it developed, I've never articulated it but is just seeped into that script. She was like, 'Wow, that's weird.' And I said, 'I know.' ''

However, Idris insists he had no qualms about revealing his foot fetish in the script because it's important to be honest in your work.

The 'Prometheus' star wants to do more work behind the camera and more work that focuses on his own life.

He explained: ''This is the kind of filmmaker I'm going to be; I'm going to write about stuff that's happened to me or that I've wanted to happen or that I think about deeply. I loved writing; it really lit a fire. I swear to God, man, if I wrote a one-man show or film, I'd write the f***ing wickedest dialogue for myself: all the things I'd want to say in a movie.''
