Incarcerated rapper Max B has lost his bid for freedom after a court appeal was denied by a New Jersey judge on Tuesday (28Feb12).
Max B was convicted of felony murder, armed robbery and a slew of other charges back in 2009 as a result of his involvement in a 2007 Fort Lee hotel incident, which left one victim dead.
The rapper, real name Charly Wingate, was sentenced to 75 years behind bars for the crime but he hired a legal team and was granted an appeal with a new trial and lawyer.
And the star appeared hopeful he might walk free on time served, stating, "The appeal process is done, finally... Now what they do is, the prosecutor responds back and you get a letter. They tell you you’ve got to wait eight to 10 months for a response from the appellate court. You might see me in the summer. You might see me at the end of the year."
However his appeal was denied this week (begs27Feb12), forcing Max B to spend the next 30 years in prison without the possibility of parole until 2042.
DJ Next, the CEO of Max B's record label, Amalgam Digital, announced the news with a post on Twitter.com on Tuesday, which read, "The news broke today about Max not getting his appeal and being locked until 2042 (sic). Looks like AD (Amalgam Digital) really took it on the chin with that one."
Former Dipset member Max B co-wrote Jim Jones' hit song We Fly High.
