Indian movie-maker Anurag Kashyap is hoping to impress industry bosses at the Cannes Film Festival in France in a bid to shake off the image of Bollywood musicals.
The director is in France for the annual gathering to showcase his new project, The Gangs of Wasseypur, and it's one of a handful of Indian dramas being unveiled at the event.
And Kashyap is adamant the movie industry in his native country is undergoing such a dramatic change that hard-hitting films could soon overshadow traditional, fun-filled Bollywood hits.
He tells the Bbc, "The buzz is reassuring because we have often come here and were the big joke... There is a lot that is happening in India... It's going through real change in the kind of film-makers that are coming through and the kind of stories that are being told, the kinds of film being made and the kind of films that are working at the box office."
