Internet pop sensation Rebecca Black is donating proceeds from her digital download sales on iTunes to Japanese disaster relief charities, because she feels guilty about stealing headlines from the earthquake/tsunami tragedies.
The teenage singer/songwriter has become an overnight sensation since posting a video performance of her song Friday on YouTube.com last month (Feb11), and now she's making a small fortune selling the tune via iTunes.
But she feels for the people of Japan and insists it's time for her to help them out.
She tells UsMagazine.com, "I think that I get 60 per cent (of sales). I am donating money to my school and Japan. My school, El Rancho Charter, is really where I started focusing on singing.
"(And) I feel bad (that) Japan happened so close to mine (story), and I feel like I'm taking away attention from it. I really just want to give back."
