Robert Downey Jr's IRON MAN will become a member of The Avengers if moviemaker Jon Favreau has his way.
The Swingers star is hoping the acquisition of various superheroes' stories by comic book giants Marvel will enable directors like him to bring classic characters together in future films.
Favreau can't wait to get started on an Iron Man sequel - even though the first film isn't released for a month - and he wants to unite a host of classic characters.
He tells MovieHole.net, "The fact that Marvel now have the rights to these characters, that would make up the members of The Avengers, rather than have them scattered among various Hollywood studios, makes it very possible.
"Before, you couldn't have Spider-Man and X-Men in the same movie, but now that Marvel is reacquiring the rights to so many of these characters, you can unite characters.
"I think that after a few of these franchises have done a few movies, they can team them up for an Avengers movie, where they're bringing those people together and doing something on a larger scale."
