Jack White - Jack White And Bennett Pen Love Letter To Public Radio Stations
Jack White, Pearl Jam, Tony Bennett and John Mayer have written an open love letter to U.S. independent radio stations, praising them for "taking chances" in their bold music choices.
The music stars joined other big names including Fleet Foxes and M. Ward in signing the note as part of Public Radio Music Month in April (12).
U.S. public broadcasting is traditionally not as restricted in song selection as commercial radio stations and a host of artists have offered their thanks to the service for taking risks and introducing new music to a wider audience.
The letter reads: "Thank you for taking chances. Thank you for playing our music even when - especially when - it doesn't sound like everything else on the radio dial. Thank you for inviting us into your studios and asking us intelligent questions. Thank you for introducing us to some of the most important music in our lives, music that made us who we are."
Other artists involved in the letter include Death Cab for Cutie, MGMT, and The Roots.
