Michael Jackson and his sister JANET fell victim to an obsessed fan in 1992 when the crazed devotee threatened to kill the King of Pop if he refused to hand over a large chunk of cash.
Frank Paul Jones, a man who believed he was married to Janet Jackson, targeted the famous siblings in a series of terrifying letters, in which he vowed to take Michael's life if he couldn't be with the Nasty hitmaker.
Jones also made threats against the life of America's then-president George H. W. Bush and plotted to "commit mass murder at a Michael Jackson concert" if the stars refused to cater to his demands.
The revelations are among a pile of previously-classified documents released by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Tuesday (22Dec09), which detail the extent of the crazed fan's threats.
In one letter obtained by FBI agents, he wrote, "I'll commit mass murder at a Michael Jackson concert if necessary, in an attempt to murder Michael, then you will have to deal with my situation in the public eye."
Another note reads, "I decided that because nobody is taking me serious, and I can't handle my state of mind, that I am going to Washington, D.C. to threaten to kill the President of the United States, George Bush... Michael I will personally attempt to kill, if he doesn't pay me my money."
Other documents in the dossier show Jones turned up outside Jackson's California home and "threatened to kill".
Jones was eventually caught and pleaded guilty to extortion before being sentenced to prison in 1993.
The leaked papers also show the FBI was involved in both child molestation cases against the late superstar in 1993 and 2004, during which authorities feared Michael's court arraignment could be targeted by terrorists. Investigators later determined there was "no intelligence indicating a terrorist threat" and the star was cleared in both instances.
The documents do not provide any new information on Jackson's June (09) death after the star suffered a cardiac arrest, aged 50.
