British singer Jake Bugg has stepped up his feud with One Direction by insisting the pop stars are just "there to look good" and "don't really have a clue" about music.

The singer-songwriter sparked a public war-of-words with One Direction by branding them "terrible" in a recent interview, prompting angry responses from the boyband's Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson.

He has now spoken out about the feud, and levelled yet more criticism at the group, which was formed on British reality Tv show The X Factor in 2010.

Speaking at the NME Awards in London on Wednesday night (27Feb13), Bugg told reporters, "I don't know how they can really be considered a band though, to be honest. I'm not too sure. I think the more I play on it, it'll wind them up...

"They're there to look good. Music wise? I assume they don't really have a clue."

He also appeared to take a shot at Harry Styles, adding, "Probably the ugliest one is the best singer. He might know a couple of chords."

One Direction was named Worst Band at the NME Awards, while Styles landed the Villain of the Year title.
