Moviemaker James Cameron is set to break his own world record by diving seven miles (11 kilometres) underwater to the world's deepest point.
The Titanic director revealed on Thursday (08Mar12) that he is aiming to reach the Mariana Trench of the Pacific Ocean, southwest of Guam, later this month (Mar12).
Cameron landed the record for the deepest solo dive earlier this week (begs05Mar12) by plunging five miles (8.2 kilometres) off the coast of Papua New Guinea and he is hoping his upcoming challenge will be just as successful.
He says, "When you're making a movie, everybody's read the script and they know what's going to happen next. When you're on an expedition, nature hasn't read the script, the ocean hasn't read the script, and no one knows what's going to happen next."
