James Franco, the 32-year-old American actor and star of the 'Spiderman' movies, will co-host the 2011 Oscars with actress Anne Hathaway, reports Hello Magazine. The pair will take over from last year's hosts Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin, who were praised for their performances at the film industry's biggest night.
Hathaway will be youngest host of the awards since Goldie Hawn took the reins in 1975, at the age of 29. Producers of the show, Bruce Cohen and DON MISCHER spoke about their somewhat surprising choice of hosts for the forthcoming ceremony, saying, "They personify the next generation of Hollywood icons - fresh, exciting and multi-talented. We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27".
Franco is currently starring in Danny Boyle's action adventure movie '127 Hours' about a trapped mountaineer, while Hathaway stars alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in the forthcoming movie 'Love and Other Drugs' about a 'free spirit' who starts an unlikely relationship with a pharmaceutical salesman. The 83rd Academy Awards is set to be the most anticipated ceremony for years with the likes of 'Inception', 'The Social Network', 'Black Swan', and 'True Grit' all vying for the top awards.
