Metallica rockers James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett broke down in tears when they first heard an emotional track Lou Reed penned for their joint album.
The Enter Sandman hitmakers teamed up with the former Velvet Underground frontman earlier this year (11) to record ten songs for a collaborative record.
One of the standout tracks on the album is Junior Dad, a song Reed penned about an ageing father - and both Hetfield and Hammett were reduced to floods of tears when they heard it in the studio.
Hammett tells Mojo magazine, "I had just lost my father literally three or four weeks previous. I had to run out of the control room, and I found myself standing in the kitchen, sobbing away.
"And something else extraordinary happened right after that. James came into the kitchen in the same condition - he was sobbing too. It was insane. (Reed) managed to take out both guitar players in Metallica in one fell swoop, with his amazingly poetic lyrics. And he came into the kitchen and he was laughing. He looked at James and I (sic), and said: 'That's a good one, huh?'"

Oh my God... I had no idea that Kirk had lost his father! I feel really bad for him, I hope that he's alright! I especially can't wait for this album now that I know how much it touched two of my idols. Kirk's got my sympathies for his father, he'll be in my thoughts.
