James McAvoy has been discussing "interesting ideas" for the 'X-Men: First Class' sequel.

The Scottish actor played the role of Professor Charles Xavier in the reboot of the mutant action adventure movie, and now a follow-up has been confirmed he has revealed he and director Matthew Vaughn have been thinking about what to do with The Script.

He told website i09: "With Charles, you either have to write him out of the movie or give him an interesting story. He's lost his best friend, essentially, and he's just been paralyzed from the waist down, which is just a huge, huge blow to his considerable ego. So he's got to deal with that.

"I don't care if he's a superhero and has brain powers or not, he's just had a huge part of his physical life taken away from him, by someone he cares about more than anyone else. So he's got to deal with that. That's part of the interesting ideas that we're talking about with Matthew Vaughn, but I can't really get into them with you because they may form the spine of the story."

James has previously revealed he was hopeful about making a follow-up to the first film, but was concerned about how much it would make.

He said: "If 'First Class' makes £2.50 then I don't think we'll make any more 'X-Men' films at all!"

"If this film makes £2.50 times £20 million then maybe we'll make another movie. Fingers crossed!"

'X-Men: First Class' - which starred Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon and Jennifer Lawrence - made $353 million at the international box office this year , on a budget of $160 million.
