Jarvis Cocker's Meltdown Festival line-up has been announced, with a host of legendary bands confirmed for the Southbank event.

The former Pulp frontman has acted as curator for the festival, which will run from June 16th to June 23rd.

Kicking off the week of frivolities will be the no-nonsense combination of Motorhead, who will be performing in the Royal Festival Hall and Melanie, who will play the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

On June 20th rock 'n' roll legends Iggy and the Stooges will also be playing the Royal Festival Hall before their hotly-tipped Glastonbury appearance a few days later.

The US rockers will be playing tracks from their new album The Weirdness, as well as classic tracks from their three landmark albums The Stooges, Funhouse and Raw Power.

June 22nd will see a performance from The Jesus and Mary Chain, along with the 1990s in support and Jarvis will be in conversation with Don Letts as a bit of respite.

The man himself will also be playing a special gig in the Festival Hall on June 23rd, perhaps treating fans to the odd classic as well as his new material.

Jarvis said: "I am eternally grateful to all the artists who have agreed to contribute to this Meltdown. They're a disparate bunch, but they have one thing in common: they will make you think.

"Together we will make a week that you will remember for the rest of your life. Is that alright for yuz?"
